| Vacon to deliver 180 AC drives to Moscow district heating system, 11.11.2005 |
Moscow United Energy Company has placed an order of 180 Vacon AC drives in the power range of 3…30 kW. The Vacon NXL and Vacon NXS drives will control pumps of the district heating system in Moscow, Russia.
The scope of delivery will also include one large step-down step-up drive solution for a 800 kW, 6 kV water pump motor. Vacon’s step-down step-up solution enables the use of the existing 6 kV medium-voltage motor with a low-voltage AC drive.
The majority of the drives is integrated in special switchgears developed locally by ZAO Vacon Drives, Vacon’s sales company in Russia. The switchgears are tailor-made solutions based on a standard Vacon PFC application. Some of them incorporate a back-up supply circuit, and other features, which have been specifically developed to the customer’s needs.
Today, more than three hundred Vacon AC drives are already in operation in the Moscow district heating system, providing energy savings and versatile flow and pressure control to the end-users. By the end of 2005, the total number of Vacon drives in the Moscow housing and communal services will exceed five hundred units.
“This significant order is a confirmation of our strong position on the municipal market in Moscow and an indication of the mutual trust we have with the customer,” says Mr Sergei Zhizhin, Director of ZAO Vacon Drives, Russia.
Moscow United Energy Company is the energy company of the Moscow city, supplying district heating as well as housing and communal services to the 12 million inhabitants of the city.
